Dear Parents
Let’s share the Responsibility
This quarantine period has given us an opportunity to go beyond the prevalent level of upbringing. We as a teacher and parent have got the equal responsibility to explore the depth of our child’s capability and make efforts to find out the signs of stress among our children. Let’s root out the weeds of negativity and strengthen this exquisite bond of friendship with our children. This lock down period is the best period to invigorate this bond of love.
Students today are under tremendous pressure to excel in every field. Parents add to academic stress by expecting too much from their children. Parents can’t realize the signs of too much stress and when they realise, the ball goes out of their court. Most working parents tend to carry a quite burden because they are not able to give adequate time to their children and then they try to compensate this by hiring professionals to fill the gap.
Sometimes family environment is a very common cause of stress in youngsters which is often overlooked. We should realise that providing the excellent education and fulfilling every requirement is not proper upbringing. We people are responsible for commercializing education. We want to see our child at the forefront of rat race and that’s why we enrol them for additional coaching classes. We don’t realise that this pressure not only hinders the growth of the children but have an adverse effect on their future. And nowadays they must be going through many thoughts which can put them in stress as they are far from school, play grounds and their fellow friends. This is the most challenging phase for our children as well as for us. We need to handle it meticulously.
In many cases the teachers themselves have a different attitude towards their classes. In fact they create conditions that force even serious students to seek private tuitions from them. The sufferer is student who has to juggle time and energy in school and coaching classes. Teachers play a critical role in nurturing children’s abilities and providing quality education. As a teacher we can alleviate stress by identifying the individual needs of the students. We need to develop realistic approach. If students can learn to deal with stress, it can have prodigious effects throughout their entire lives. In walking hand in hand with the technological revolutions, we have knowingly and unknowingly drifted from the God given gift of emotional bonding towards our own children which has created a communication gap between parents and children. But this is the right time to take out time for to annihilate that communication gap. Let’s take responsibility that our children don’t feel neglected and venture out in search of love and care and on most occasions land out at the wrong places ruining their lives.
It is not just enough to provide the basic needs while our children are starved emotionally and fed uncared for. Spending quality time with them is an absolute mast and there is no substitute for this. Coordination between home and school is needed for holistic development of the children. Our children earnestly need parental care and guidance of the teachers. All of us must work together to root out this weed so that our children can thrive in a vibrant and stress free environment. We hope and pray that by joining hands we can achieve the impossible.
Let’s make this quarantine period proliferant and reproducing for our little kids and share our responsibility together.
